Hi
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Gene and I have know and used Aloe's all my life. Like many of you my first introduction to the plant came from my Mom, who put some aloe on my finger when I burnt it on a hot light bulb. She also used it on my sunburns and cuts. They always healed fast and left minimal scars.
A few years ago I came upon another amazing aloe. The "Aloe Ferox" this one grows naturally in the East Cape region of South Africa. This is not your Mothers aloe! This aloe is big and strong and has a really cool flower bloom that looks like a candelabra of red hot spikes! Since this plant grows in a harsh environment with little rain and a high mineral content in the soil, it packs a lot of nutrients into it's leaves. It has three components in each leaf. The Bitter Sap, a dark amber liquid that exudes from the leaf when first cut. This Bitter sap is very potent and has a purgative effect when ingested. The natives in South Africa have used it for centuries to cure internal and external diseases. The Leaf outer green also contains healing powers, and can be dried and made into a powder, or if kept in a granular form used as a tea, that has a calming effect and has a beneficial effect for a multitude of internal problems. Finally the last par the inner gel, this milky clear inner gel has a beneficial effect on skin problems such as rashes, eczema, acne, wound and burn care. The whole leaf can be made into an aloe drink, teas, lotions, shampoos, body and skin care products and supplements.
Prior to making the juice the leaves are washed to remove the bitters. The Aloe bitters are usually crystallized by a reduction method and used in various remedies or added to supplements. Crystallized bitters can be ingested as a detox remedy. The Aloe Bitters can also be used to treat animals for internal parasites, fleas and ticks. Of course the whole leaf can be used on animals as well for wound and infection care.
I continue to be totally amazed by this plant so I decided to distribute Aloe Ferox based products in the US and Canada.
