Why do you think that my Aloe dies outside? Pollution?

Hello.

I joined this forum to ask a question specifically.

Ok, I live in Madrid, Spain. I am chronically sick with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, respiratory disease of unknown origin, asthma, bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis and lots of other diseases and symptoms. I am really sick all over for ages.

Anyway. The question is that I bought an Aloe Vera plant one year ago or more because it helps me a lot with my hemorroids (because of chronic diarrhea and chronic liver disease...).

I have always had it inside and grows well, bright green, looks healthy.

But this summer I thought of putting it outside in a backyard where it could get a lot of sun (Madrid is very hot, dry and sunny in the summer) to see if it grew even better and faster.

To my surprise, it dies very fast outside. In one week it's thin, pale, looking awful. I put it inside again and get back to live in time. I tried this two times and both times the same result... dying.

So, it made me think. I searched and read that Aloes grow in the desert so it shouldn't die for too much heat. Then it made me think that maybe it is related to the same cause of my illness.

And I thought of three possibilities:

1- The backyard has toxic molds (the floor is covered with some "green" something that dies with vinegar).
2- The pollution of Madrid kills it. It is a VERY polluted city and this is the very center.
3- I live in a second floor on top of a big car painting garage which releases toxic vapors.

I feel so sick that those vapors really kill me. I made the police and Environmental Engineers from the Town Hall come to check and they said the vapors were normal and on the allowed limits. That their papers were in order regarding emissions of toxic vapors and general safety despite they admitted it was unbreathable as they could feel it from my home. The other neighbours also complain but they are not sick and don't pay much attention to it. Just the bad smell to paint and varnish.

So, my question is, do you think that the Aloe may die for any of those three reasons in such a short time and get alive inside again fast?

Thanks in advance. This might be a clue to why I am so ill as no doctor knows.

Hi Daniel.

Have you tried a vacation on the coast?

Is there a particular reason for staying in Madrid so near to a polluter?

Why not try to get away for a week or 2 and take your AV with you.?

If your health improves, there's your answer.
