How should I separate this monster aloe?

Hello all,

My girlfriend has a pot full of aloe pups from a monster aloe plant, however, these pups stayed in this pot for the last couple years. Clearly, these are no longer pups and need to be separated.

There are seven (7) separate aloes in this pot and they are growing quite wildly.

I would really appreciate some advice on my approach to separating and planting these. I've already purchased soil and pots, my question is how should I plant them so the shoots grow vertically and not get too top heavy. Is it reasonable to trim the plants of their bottom most leaves and plant the stem?

I'm planning on tackling this on the weekend, any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Here are some more photos of the individual plants, they are crowded but otherwise healthy.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Since the pups are already very big, you should use a stem for the first months after repotting. Trimming some leaves would be a good idea is you want the plant to grow upwards rather than spider around the pot.

Good luck and hope to see you around :ugeek:
